Uber - Data Scientist I, FinTech (Hyderabad, India)

Uber is hiring a Data Scientist I for its FinTech team in Hyderabad to support tax operations, compliance, and financial data analysis. The role involves data mining, visualization, and automation to improve financial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze tax financial and entity-level data to extract key insights.
• Build models to detect anomalies and inconsistencies in financial data.
• Automate data pipelines and create self-service dashboards.
• Work with cross-functional teams (engineering, tax, accounting, compliance).
• Develop visualizations and reports for business stakeholders.
• Document and train internal teams on data flows and best practices.

Required Skills:

• Advanced SQL expertise and experience in data analysis and visualization.
• Strong problem-solving and data storytelling skills.
• Experience with Excel, Tableau, Looker, Mixpanel, or similar tools.
• Degree in Math, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or related fields.
• 1+ years (M.S. degree) or 2+ years (B.S. degree) of experience as a Data Scientist.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Python or R for data analysis and automation.
• Understanding of A/B testing and statistical methods.
• Experience in Finance, FinTech, Tax, or Payments is a plus.
